  7. The Port Commander connects 128 serial devices to a 80386/486-based host using
  8. a single EISA/ISA bus slot. This is accomplished through utilization of
  9. multiple microprocessors in the Port commander subsystem to offload character
  10. processing activities from the host CPU. The Host Adapter uses a high-speed (2
  11. Megabit per sec) link to 16-port concentrators in a daisy-chain fashion to
  12. allow terminal attachments over a mile from the host system. This is done with
  13. inexpensive twisted-pair cabling between the host and the concentrators. The
  14. concentrators provide full modem control signal support and support standard
  15. RS-232 devices in any combination of terminals, printers, modems, etc. All
  16. driver software, diagnostics, and monitoring software comes standard with the
  17. subsystem.
